Lassie’s Gift Quilted Bag - Oct. 13, 2013

Our Vacation in Kansas OCT 2013

Oct. 2, 2013 I decided to jump in Gardner’s Lake at our Lake House, simply because I could.  I wanted to appreciate the gift of life I had been given by my Lord and King.  After completing chemo & radiation treatments, every day is a richer gift of a whole different level.  Gratitude becomes you love language

After this I had experienced great trouble swallowing & was having migraines.  It was decided I needed tests to be done.  With this cancer scare,
all I had wanted to do was to go to Kansas and see my family, so Jamie (Papa) and I decided we would leave to go see them and surprise the grandkids  It would be our first vacation to see our family in Kansas since my cancer treatment journey started in 2012.

Before we left, I had a surprise visit from Lassie.  Aunt Lassie to my kids and grandkids. We all love her so.  She had created a quilted bag as a gift for me.  No occasion, just a gift.  What a HUGE blessing.  Such beautiful work.  Aunt Lassie is an artist with fabric.  She has blessed us all with quilts through time.

Oct. 16, 2013:  We left to drive to Kansas 12:30 pm. Stopped only for gas, bathroom & 1 breakfast at 4:30 am Oct. 17th.  Arrived in Kansas at 7:45 pm on Oct. 17th.  We surprised the grandkids.  Oh there reactions & faces were priceless to our hearts.  Lots of happy tears.

Friday 18 Oct 2013 Jamie & Lindsay went out to have some father\daughter time, while I took care of Owen during nap time.  Then Lindsay, Bill, Owen, Papa & I went out to eat at First Watch for a brunch.  I don't remember the last time Lindsay, Bill, Papa & I were out to eat all together.  That night we had a celebration meal at Lindsay & Peter's house to celebrate Bill getting his first job in Kansas.  We ordered Jack Stacks and ate at home.

Saturday 19 OCT 2013, Jamie went to Ethan's early soccer game at 8:00am... it was 35 degrees out.  Ethan scored a hat trick... one of those goals tied the game and the last one won the game.  Jamie, Lindsay, Peter, Ethan, Owen & I went to Audri's volleyball games.  Bill locked his keys in his car so we went to Tim Horton's and took him the tools... He did a B & E (break & enter) on his own car.  Then we went to see Bill's apartment.  Came back to see the kids get ready to go to the school "Boo by You" party.  When they left, we went to see Bill's apartment and drove by past Bill's potential place of work.  Then Jamie, Bill & I went out to eat at Noodles & Company for supper and went grocery shopping.  Audri and I had a sleep over in the basement & Jamie and Ethan had one in Ethan's room.

Sunday 20 OCT 2013 Lindsay, Peter, Audri, Ethan, Papa & I went to church together.  I took communion and thanked my Lord for all He had done for me to win the war with cancer.  The gratitude & tears flowed.  Just to be there with my family, praising & worshiping God was surreal to me.  We went out to eat at Sweet Tomatoes but Bill did not come as he wasn't feeling well.

There of course were thrift store moments.  A fun way to give & receive some blessings.  Jamie, Lindsay, Ethan & I went to the thrift store for their 25 cent sale.  Came home and Jamie, Audri, Ethan and I went to the movies and saw "Rainy With a Chance of Meatballs 2”.  Lindsay, Jamie & I hit the Thrift stores again.  Then took Bill a huge smoothy, airborne and a Vicks inhaler, as he still wasn't feeling well.  I think Jamie & I are coming down with a cold too.  Everyone except Bill & I had a fire pit session... complete with making s'mores.

The above may seem like, just simply living life to you, but each of this moments was a magnanimous gift from my Lord & King.  It gave me cherished moments with my family that I had missed so much of, when going through my cancer treatments.  Things I honestly didn’t know if I’d ever get to do again.

As Jamie had driven Lindsay out & left her in Kansas at the age of 15 - 1999; he’d driven Bill out to Kansas & left him in August 2013… and this time he had driven me out to Kansas & was leaving me there for awhile too… well we all agreed He wasn’t allowed to drive anyone else out to Kansas.  LOL  I did get to stay in Kansas until Nov. 9, 2013.  God is good, even in the middle of the unknown… regarding possibly another journey with cancer for me.   Look past the circumstances to the blessings He places in our paths everyday.
