(Chemo\Frenamee Treatment #2)

There’s a Porcupine in the Sink

And Chitty Chatty Bang Bang

The dawn of my 2’nd chemo\frenamee treatment had come at last.   They had told us to get our head shaved when our hair started to fall out and to be sure you purchased a soft brush.  I kind of chuckled to myself as my  head thought why…. why would I need a soft brush?  Back on the rabbit trail here…. I got up and showered in anticipation of my day with Aunt Elaine & Uncle Kevin for frenamee treatment #2.    Hum, not only was my head shaved close but what remained resembled a porcupine.  My scalp hurt a little after taking my shower, so I leaned forward to brush my head with the soft brush and some of my porcupine spills started falling out of my scalp.  Just to imagine, that I use to complain when I would find whiskers in the sink from Jamie.  There wasn’t much hope for the sink and I realized right then & there, that I wouldn’t be complaining about Jamie’s whiskers in the sink any more as -I would need a shopvac to keep up with my porcupine spills!  In the end I had to resort to the mineral oil, that was mentioned in an article I had been given to read, to sooth my head.  Now I understood the reason for the soft brush and your scalp does get tender as the spills fall out.  Nope they haven’t all fallen out yet and I am thinking this will be a process unto itself.  It could become an obsession to get all those things out but hey it’s all the hair I have left so I ‘d best enjoy it.  I have decided that I kind of have an obsession with Jamie’s hair now too.  I love to touch it.  It’s soft smooth and even seems thick to me.  I am a balding porcupine and his is soft and silky.  Not sure what kind of hair commercial I could do now.  I certainly don’t need mousse to keep my hair in place, or a hair straightener now, as what little I have sticks up perfectly straight.  I am also thinking the soft and silky look is out of the picture for me for awhile.  Aunt Joanne & Aunt Sonja, thank you for my new silky scarves for my head and Aunt Elaine for the beautiful hat you finished for me when I was in my second frenamee treatment and I got to wear home in the car.  :O)  You should know that I am a real trend setter now as when I go for walk around the loop in my yard,  I now layer hats to keep warm.  Yes, a porcupine gets chilly.

Chitty Chatty Bang Bang

Now Kevin and Elaine should get a medal for listening to all my nonsensical chatter on the way to St. John.  Aunt Elaine let me set in front with Uncle Kevin, as I hadn’t seen him in a very long time.  Don’t worry, he didn’t have a chance to fall asleep at the wheel with my big mouth rolling, rolling, rolling!  I am sure on the way home, he was happy this chick was in the back seat!   Thanks Aunt Elaine, but I am not sure if Uncle Kevin will ever really forgive you and now Jamie you really owe him big!!!!  The tag team support was awesome and I feel so blessed to have had you both there.  As my childhood friend pointed out to me that day, “I am 1\3 of the way done my treatments!”  Math never was my strong suit but I sure hung on to that figure!!!!!

My love, hugs & May God bless,

Paulette
